L’Auditori of BarcelonaÂ Â (Auditorium) is a modern building of 42,000 square metres designed by the architect Rafael Moneo that was opened on 22nd March 1999.
The building has three different modern spaces: Sala 1Â Pau CasalsÂ for 2,200 spectators; Sala 2Â Oriol Martorell, with 600 places and, Sala 3Â Tete MontoliuÂ with 400 places.
It lies strategically in front of theÂ National Theatre of CataloniaÂ in between the bustling streets of Gran Via, Diagonal and Meridiana. The 42,500 square metre building is based next to a central patio. Furthermore, it is the headquarters of theÂ ESMUC Catalonian Academy of MusicÂ and it houses theÂ Music Museum, and theÂ Catalonian National Opera.
