Globalgeo proved that geomatics have now surpassed the barrier of scientific and professional use: their globalization has led to more than 500 million personal users on the web.

Among the conclusions at the International Geomatics Week, which in 2008 formed part of Globalgeo, it was noteworthy that the current GPS signals and the future Galileo system are an increasingly essential part of modern-day society, especially in air and sea navigation, amongst other uses.

Globalgeo was visited by almost 2,000 highly qualified professional visitors, of whom 10% were foreign.
